Dr. Mehmood A Khan practiced medicine in the mountainous regions of South Asia at a time when reaching a doctor often meant days of travel through unforgiving terrain. Patients would make the long journey down from remote villages seeking treatment, but with little money to their name, many couldn't afford the fare back home. Rather than turning them away, Dr. Khan opened his doors — housing them, feeding them, and caring for them until they were well enough to return. His clinic became more than a place of treatment; it was a refuge. For many of those mountain communities, he wasn't just their doctor — he was the only safety net they had.
Dr. Mehmood A Khan's lifelong dedication to sheltering the vulnerable — whether a sick patient who couldn't afford the journey home or a family with nowhere to turn — became the foundation of our own mission. His example inspired us to extend that same humanity into housing, standing by renters who fall behind, and ensuring that the most vulnerable in the market never face the streets alone.
